We live in a society that is inherently racist. America was built with it, and we have been trying to fight it now for 300 years. But because it is so ingrained in our culture, it has been difficult. So, it is not surprising that some of what you mentioned is often subconscious racism because it's part of our culture, and in many cases unintentional.

You also should realize blacks can be racist too, though they too may not be aware of it. You know, white men can't jump and Larry Bird wouldn't be considered so good if he were black -- just a couple references to basketball. But in general basketball is our most egalitarian sport.

Racism is also hard to fight because it is part of our human nature; it is part of our evolutionary development to feel more of a bond to those who are more like us. We all have some racism within us. The key is to acknowledge it and stamp it out. It's when race no longer matters that we will have achieved our goal.
