And these people are academics with PhD's. It was in a discussion about a paper funded by the Heartland Institute (Koch Industries ally) saying Global Warming is a hoax. They made up all kinds of rebuttals: subterranean volcanos, climate variability, sunspot activity. Some said the IPCC is corrupt and NASA is unreliable ... can you believe that?

Sometimes I think the human race is too stupid to ever make any real progress -- we're still fighting inane wars. I have little hope.
