Allison, the facts you are present are true, but not all of America is like that. I know many whites who don't feel that way and I suspect such feelings of nostalgia are in the overwhelming minority -- think MAGA.

However, our culture definitely has a racist bias because of its foundation on slavery. It also has had a backlash in the last two decades. One of the issues I believe that the racists jump on is "Affirmative Action," which is discriminatory. As MLK said, people should be judged on the content of their character, not the color of their skin.

One area of our society which is truly egalitarian is sports. You don't see coaches deciding who to play based on the color of their skin.
